THE GREAT CHRISTMAS PARTY

We are already in the last month of the year, December, accompanied by its characteristic winter weather and the unmistakable colorful decorations of these holidays.

In Querétaro, the usual low temperature ranges between 8 and 12 degrees Celsius. This is not too cold to cause snowy weather, but it is perfect to wear the best winter outfit you want.

For those who visit Mexico at this time of the year, there are some differences in the way of celebrating this holiday with respect to how it would be in Japan.

In Japan, the "Festivity of Christmas Eve" takes place on the 24th and Christmas is celebrated on the 25th. During the festivities, you can always find Christmas cake and cheerful children receiving gifts.

While, in Mexico, besides celebrating the same dates; they continue with the festivities until January 6th of the following year, ending with the tradition of getting together with friends or family to celebrate "El Día de los Reyes Magos" (Three Kings Day).

According to the religious beliefs rooted in Mexican culture, the day of the birth of Jesus Christ and the visit of three wise men who gave him gifts are commemorated. This is the origin of the custom where on the morning of January 6th, children wake up excited to open the gifts brought to them by the "Three Wise Men".

That same day, families and friends gather to eat together the traditional bread, called "Rosca de Reyes", which represents a crown of the "Three Kings". And inside, some figurines of children are hidden, representing the baby Jesus in the Catholic/Christian religion.

According to tradition, if at the moment of cutting your piece of the "Rosca de Reyes" you find a figurine of a child, then you should treat everyone present to a breakfast of “Tamales” and “Atole” on February 2nd; which are another traditional Mexican dish that we recommend you try.

The first days of the year you can find several "Roscas de Reyes" adorning bakeries all over Mexico.

If you wish to travel to Mexico and visit the state of Queretaro this holiday season; remember that this season FUJITAYA offers a selection of exclusive Christmas packages for stays from February 24-25.

This special package includes a traditional Japanese Christmas cake along with a special visit from Santa Claus to personally deliver the gifts to the children who have been good this year and many other advantages.
